Transnet Port Terminals, an operating division of Transnet Soc Limited, requires the services of the following suitably qualiﬁed persons at Transnet Port Terminals, Durban Container Terminal.

The successful candidate will maintain and repair electrical infrastructure and equipment in compliance with legislation, codes of practice and standard operating procedures in order to optimise equipment availability and terminal infrastructure.
Minimum requirements: ● trade tested artisan (Electrical) ● a valid Code 08 driver’s licence or be prepared to obtain one within the time frame allowed. (If in possession of licence a copy must be attached to application) ● A-Brown certification ● physically able ● visual acuity ● Able to work at heights/in confined spaces ● be prepared to work extended hours ● Standby and callouts
Key performance areas: ● maintenance and repair high voltage power distribution network substation ● maintain and repair electrical equipment ● Maintenance and repair of EL+P in buildings and grounds ● HT switching and reticulation in substations ● Installation of electrical components.
Knowledge: ● electrical knowledge ● basic electronics knowledge ● Applicable safety procedures-Osh ACT ● AC, DC drives and PLC systems ● high voltage knowledge ● Substation switching and reticulation experience.
Skills: ● decision making ● diagnostic ability ● communication ● hand/eye co-ordination ● ability to interpret drawings ● problem solving ● fault Finding ● root cause analysis ● basic staff supervision.
