Requirements: The applicant must be in possession of a relevant qualification: MCSE, Comptia A+ and N+.
A degree in B.Sc Computer Science will be an added advantage. The successful applicant will report to the head of IT and must be in possession of a Code 08 driver’s license. A good aptitude for IT Technical support. Good verbal and writing skills. A fundamental understanding of Network topology and protocols and troubleshooting skills for Hardware, Software and Network peripherals.
Duties and responsibilities: Addressing basic application software support (e-mail, internet and office applications). Documenting and maintaining IT Hardware Assets and Software licensing. Attending to IT requests both at the district level and at the category “B” Municipalities. Direct reporting to the Head of IT unit. Applying instructions and guidelines in respect of troubleshooting and problem solving application problems and installation of new software and/ or hardware, by diagnosing specific software related problems, seeking corrective measures or following commands guiding the process. Installing/configuring set-up commands, testing and solving of logs. Maintaining data dictionaries/ directories and attending to the distribution and retention of data on various storage devices. Performing upgrades and repairs to components/ peripheral devices. Setting up, installing and testing new units, seeking approval and correcting deviations prior to handover and, checking and communicating functionality in the live environment to internal technical support personnel. Updating asset details of computer equipment and accessories located within the organization. Entering details of computer licenses in indexed registers, and filing original hardcopy/ electronic documents in referenced folders. Inserting stock information in schedules, referring to stock issue requisitions to input and balance stock on hand of consumables and components.
