KZN Provincial Government: Bursary Programme 2015

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Bursary Programme is offering transversal bursaries to students who are residents of KwaZulu-Natal and interested in pursuing a tertiary qualification in the fields of study below. Applicants should have already been accepted / provisionally accepted / or in possession of a CAO application receipt. The funding is only for applicants wishing to study at public institutions of higher learning and not private institutions.
Students must be from previously disadvantage backgrounds and from vulnerable groups. The income threshold for a parent / guardian should not be more than R60, 000.00 per annum if single or R120, 000.00 per annum for both parents / guardians. The awarding of funding is guided by the skills needs of the Province and by the academic performance of the applicant.
WHO CAN APPLY?
- Applicants must be residents of the KwaZulu-Natal Province.
- Matriculates who are high achievers in possession of provisional acceptance letter from institutions of higher learning or in possession of a CAO receipt.
- Students who are currently studying in one of the areas listed above and meet all other requirements.
- Applicants to be between the age of 18-35 yrs.
- People with disability are encouraged to apply
TO APPLY, KINDLY FORWARD THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS:
- CodedBursary application form (this is obtainable and returnable at the Operation Sukuma Sakhe District offices and Department of Education District Offices).
- Motivation letter.
- Certified Copies of Identity document (ID) including parents / guardian ID copy.
- Certified copy of Matric certificate.
- Proof of income of parent and / or guardian.
- Proof of registration / acceptance letter from institution.
- Proof of unemployment from Department of Labour parents / guardians are unemployed.
- It is recommended that those who have household profiling certificate submit a certified copy.
NB: It is the responsibility of the student to seek admission with a tertiary institution and accommodation within University residence. Successful applicants will enter into a contract for a number of years equivalent to the duration of their period of study. The bursary is for full time study only and covers tuition fees, meals, accommodation, stipend and prescribed textbooks where necessary.
