The National Consumer Tribunal is an independent adjudicative body with jurisdiction throughout the Republic of South Africa. Its purpose is to adjudicate on credit and consumer related matters provided for in the National Credit Act (NCA) and the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), and to rule on alleged contravention of these acts. The Tribunal hears and decides on applications and referrals involving consumers, credit providers, debt counsellours and credit bureaus. The NCT invites graduates in the following fields:

Finance

  • 3 yr. Diploma or Degree qualification in Finance
  • No job experience required
  • Committed and dedicated

The successful candidate will be involved and exposed to all aspects relating to the Finance matters, provide financial and administration support. Receive and verify invoices and requisitions for goods and services. Verify that transcriptions comply with financial policies and procedures. Process and capture journals. Perform any other Finance related functions as may be required.

Registry (to start in July)

  • 3 yr. Diploma or Degree qualification in Information and Records
  • No job experience required
  • Knowledge of Records Management (NARS) principles and guidelines
  • Knowledge of development and maintenance of the file plan
  • Knowledge of Registry processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of National Archives & Records Services Act of 1996
  • Attention to detail

Provide administrative support to the Registry Unit. Open new files and replace worn file covers. Ensure that correspondence and other documents are correctly referenced and delivered to correct Tribunal Members. File documents correctly, promptly and neatly. Implement and maintain the new filing system. Maintain the register of files open, destruction and other Registry registers. Retrieve, trace and keep statistics of file requests. Monitor the movement of files stored internally and offsite. Issue and receive documents and case files.

ICT

  • 3 yr. Diploma or Degree qualification in IT
  • No job experience required
  • Committed and dedicated
  • Hard worker, output-driven, honest and team player.

The intern will be assigned to assist the NCT technical staff with providing computer hardware, software and technical support to various divisions within the NCT, under the discretion of the ICT Manager and the ICT office. KPAs: Provide PC Hardware components, support Windows 7, MS Office 2010, Pastel, VIP, and monitor Help Desk support requests.
