The Western Cape Government is inviting suitably qualified teachers for the following eight opportunities for four years:

Diesel Mechanic, Fitter and Turner and Welder Apprentice (Pupil Artisan):

Diesel Mechanic (6 positions available) Reference number: APR01/2012

Fitter and Turner (1 position available) Reference number: APR02/2012

Welder (1 position available) Reference number: APR 03 Welder

REMUNERATION:  Successful learners will earn a monthly salary of R 8 873, 14 per month and will be required to sign a contract with the Department.

OBJECTIVE: Learners will receive training in an apprenticeship programme and qualify as an Artisan.

REQUIREMENTS:     A Technical Matric Certificate (or equivalent N-stream) with mathematics and science as passed subjects    Candidates must be under the age of 21 years and enjoy good health     Good verbal and written communication skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape

RECOMMENDATIONS:    Passes in motor/diesel trade theory, graphics and design and mechanical technology ● Passes in fitting and machinery trade theory    A valid unendorsed driver’s licence.

COMPETENCIES:     Knowledge of tools (test) and construction plant (test)   Organisational skills   Hand skills (test) ● Practical mechanical study    Hands-on ability ● Self-motivated and punctual.

TRAINING ENTAILS THE FOLLOWING: Study of technical subjects, undergo practical training in and on construction machinery as required     Apply health and safety regulations    Clean and store tools and equipment    Clean workshop buildings and premises    Uphold good interpersonal relations    Undertake administrative tasks     Practical servicing and repairs in Workshop.
