Applications are invited from the unemployed youth who wish to pursue a career in Forestry. The suitable candidates will be granted an opportunity to attend a one year General Forestry Learnership Programme.  Learners will be studying and residing at our Platorand Training Centre situated in Sabie in Mpumalanga Province, to complete both the theoretical and practical component of the Learnership. Upon successful completion of the learnership, learners will receive a nationally recognised qualification: General Education and Training Certificate in General Forestry (NQF 1).

Learners will gain work experience that will improve their chances of getting employment with forestry companies and contractors. The work experience gained during the learnership will assist youth to set up their own small business. Learners will also gain links with the employment networks to get jobs. Learners will receive a monthly stipend for the duration of the learnership. When making the final selection preference will be given to Previously Disadvantaged Individuals, People with disabilities, females & Youth from communities adjacent to our plantations and Communities we have signed social compact with.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be an unemployed youth aged 19 to 30 years
• Must have passed/completed Grade 10 or Grade 12
• Must have passed Maths, Biology and Science in Grade 9 to Matric school subjects
• Must have passion for the environment and be able to work outdoors.

Write an essay, a maximum of 2 pages, explaining why you should be considered to be enrolled in the General Forestry Learnership Programme.
