This programme offers opportunities to unemployed young graduates in the following areas:

  • Civil Engineering: National Diploma / BTech degree / BSc / B Eng.in Civil Engineering
  • Urban& Regional Planning: National Diploma / BTech degree / Bachelor of Urban &Regional Planning
  • Electrical Engineering: National Diploma / BTech Degree / BSc / B Eng in Electrical Engineering
  • Environmental Sciences: BTech and or Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences / Management
  • Property Valuers: A Diploma in Real Estate, majoring with Valuation / B. Com honours in real estate / Advanced Diploma in real Estate majoring with Valuation / BSc Degree in property studies majoring with Valuation.

The Young Graduate Programme is a two to three yearcandidacy programme aimed towards professional registration with relevant professional bodies. Whilst the programme is not exclusively limited to individuals from previously disadvantaged communities, MISA encourages historically disadvantaged individuals to apply. The MISA Young Graduate Programme is a structured work-based candidacy development programme for unemployed youth with relevant technical qualifications from institutions of higher learning. It provides, amongst other opportunities, a monthly stipend and mentorship by experienced mentors.

The recruitment is targeting unemployed youth with requisite qualifications to join the programme from the 2020 / 21 financial year. Successful candidates will enter into two to three-year candidacy contracts with MISA, depending on the requirements of their respective professional bodies. The candidates will be hosted by identified municipalities for work exposure. Qualifying unemployed youth from the host municipalities are encouraged to apply.A list of host municipalities who will be participating in this recruitment can also be accessed on the website below, learners from within these municipal areas are strongly recommended to apply.

Applicants must be unemployed graduates who are willing and available for placement in a municipality for a minimum 24 months to acquire work experience, coaching and mentorship towards professional registration.

Applicants must be willing and available to undergo required structured training, deployment and rotation to municipalities and private sector companies for work exposure towards professional registration.MISA does not guarantee post-internship employment to graduates owing to participation in the candidacy programme.

Applications must be submitted on the MISA application form, obtainable in the website (www.misa.gov.za / www.cogta.gov.za) accompanied by a covering letter, a comprehensive CV and certified copies of identity document, and qualifications. Applications without the above will not be considered. MISA reserves the right to / not to make appointments. If no response is received from MISA within 90 days after the closing date, it must be presumed that your application was unsuccessful.
